Swiss Pride

Either the Swiss are particularly patriotic, or they just really appreciate the aesthetic of their flag. Either way, having the streets of Zurich lines with flying flags makes for a very special experience. I certainly loved the colour of Zurich, from the pastel buildings, to the proudly displayed flags.

The second largest Swiss bank. This square, and the surrounding streets are drenched in money. You can find Gucci, Prada, Mont Blanc, Isymiyaki, Chanel, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Cartier.... the list goes on and on. It might just be because they're all crammed into a relatively small, central part of Zurich, but I've never seen anything like it.

-Ben.

I took a lot of photos of Zurich. I really liked it. A lot. Oh, and the river here has such clear water. In fact, the water all over Switzerland is crystal clear, fresh and clean.

-Ben.

This is Zurich.. it is such a beautiful city.

Our Wonderful Hosts

So here's the two who are responsible for us having so much fun. Thanks Doris and Sascha!!

Into the City

Zurich really is a gorgeous place. We were blessed with great weather too, which really showed how colourful the city is. This photo was taken on our way down from Adliswel, over Lake Zurich, into the city.

This was a game that we found in one place we went.. it involved hitting very long nails into a stump. it was most fun as you dont often find a hammer and nails readily available to a pub full of drunks... we love this country!

Yeah.. we all had a great time..

I had a great time...

The night life in Davos was awesome.. We met some of Doris and Sascha's friends and drank loads of swiss beer..

The Dominant Species

Gigantic Bird-Eating Spiders are everywhere in Switzerland. This coffee-table sized example nearly took Liz out on our trip into the Zurich City.

-Ben.

After.. this was a beef dish that came with some bread. it was really, really nice.

Ahh, that's better!

-Ben.

Before...

This is some quality swiss food. well it should be at 24 swiss francs! it was made from some hugh mushrooms, shredded potato and parma ham and swiss cheese.. yum

Little Davos Stream

Some tool got in the way of an otherwise beautiful scene.

Although Ben got up and going straight away, he did manage to t bone doris and knock her flat to the ground after building up too much speed and forgetting how to stop.

This is Dan after he and Ben both fell off the T bar ski lift and had to walk up the slope.. nice seat though..

Yes, it was as steep as it looks.. Needless to say i didnt do so well here today, but if i only had more time i would be struttin it with the rest of them... maybe

After almost knocking someone off the edge of a steep cliff, Dan took a crazy left turn straight into a wall. Meanwhile, Ben took off down the hill like a pro and i took the more sensible option of walking..

These are our amazing friends Sascha and Doris who generously let us stay with them for the 4 days over Easter. We had such a good time with them, and we hope to return the favour soon!! What an amazing backdrop..

Nice one.

This is looking up the mountain towards the sky resort we were doing that day. It was called Jacobshorn and it was really high, and steep, and hard...

This is Davos. A village about 1.5 hours from Zurich.

This is the view from Sascha and Doris's apartment. They live in an area just outside Zurich city called Adliswil (sorry about the spelling).

This is taken from the airport in Zurich. The flight from Heathrow took only and hour and 15 mins and the weather in Zurich was a nice 16 degrees.

Sweet Looking Church

This one is in Ealing Broadway. Nothing particularly special about it really, it just looks cool. The funny thing is that I was looking forward to seeing buildings like this, but it turns out that they are pretty much everywhere.

-Ben

Surprise, Surprise... closed doors

Yep, those masons sure know how to build things. Check out the size of the front doors!! Sadly, 'open sesame' didn't work.

-Ben

Freemason Mecca

This is the Masonic Grand Lodge of England. Actually, I'm fairly sure masons don't travel from all over the world to come here, but it is definately the biggest lodge I've ever seen.

Come to think of it, while Liz and I were there, I didn't notice anyone enter or leave the building... hmmmm.

-Ben

Mind the Gap!!!

The Mother of all Jengas

I always thought playing drinking games with a regular Jenga game was dangerous...

-Ben

I don't know what to say really....

What's wrong with your eyes Liz?
