Booze-a-thon

The other two seem to have forgotton that we spent a large deal of time blotto. So I have included some photos of us having a great time with German beer. This particular one is with what ended up being our main group of mates.

and finally...for now.....the most unique aussie fan we saw. Trust me, you do not want to see what is under that suit....I couldn't sleep for days when i did :(

Wally and Matty Johns

Me and Matty Johns at Augustiner

we had a no shaving rule while we were away, and thought it would be a laugh to keep the mo's once we got back. introducing the mo brigade

AUS: 2 CRO: 2....Were going through!!!!

on the night of the argentina v holland game (2 nights before the AUS:CRO game), it was raining, and so we needed to fin a pub close to camp that had a roof. and this was the place we found. the locals were really nice and we managed to order some pizzas with our really bad broken german.

after the game i turned to the guy on my table (who was the owners son/cousin/nephew or something) and said that that they have to cheer on australia. he turned to face me and said "we're croatian". it then got a little uncomfortable and we left soon after

the aussie training camp was in a small german town named ohringen. this was a public training day where 4000+ fans turned up to watch the team train

this is fanfest - munich. there was a fanfest in every world cup city. this was the most extravagant though. it had a massive screen in the middle of a lake with thousands of people cramming onto the bank. there was a stage under the screen for halftime entertainment.

picure this about 10 times busier during germany games

this was the final biergarten for the day. this one is known as Augustiner. we spent many a night in this one as it was the easiest one to get to, and had plenty of space and 3 massive screens for the football! oh and great beer.

this was the second biergarten for the day. it was the Lowenbrau biergarten. this one has a brewery as well, and just happens to be our favourite brand of german beer! great place.

we went on a "pub crawl" during our time in munich, but it was mor of a biergarten crawl. this was the first place called the hirschgarten, which is the biggest biergarten in the world. the guy in the middle is alex, and was our "bar wench" while we were there. how they carry 5 steins in each hand is still beyong me!

..............then there was this guy. we call him the tissue man. i think he's german, and being that germany just won the game we were watching he got a bit excited. he reached up to some cupboard and pulled out this bag. he then went around to all the ladies on the table and told them take a "lucky dip". unbeknownst to all the girls there were only small packets of travel tissues in that bag with movie pictures on them. needless to say, he was quite proud of his collection. he then took all the tissues back and started making a pyramid with them in the middle of our table (see picture)

it was quite simply the wierdest night i have had in quite a long time...only in germany!

.........like this seedy bar tender who was bringing us drinks all night. all you have to do was waive him down and ask for a beer, and he would reply with "no f#*king worries". we thought he was a laugh, so we asked for a photo...our mistake............

on the first night in munich, not knowing anything about the town, we set off in search of a pub to watch the football. we found this little sports bar just near the haupbahnhopf (main train station) It was a cool little bar with some interesting characters.......

This is in the middle of a town called Kaiserslauten, where the first aussie game was being played - AUS:JAP. We litterally took the town over! there was a DJ or something there playing playing typical australian songs - "we come from a land down under", "walting matilda", "tnt" and the list went on. everyone in that town was wasted and singing along. definitely a great place to be.

As i said before the beer tent got a bit crazy at night. we had many a sing song in this tent...good times

This is our mate Nathan Smith that we know from back home...we had no idea he was going until about 2 weeks before we left...crazy

this is shane and mark (left and right respectively) some good mates we met on the tour. one night isy was dying to tell someone the rugby union score between england and australia, so he lent over and told mark, who replied with "mate who gives a s#*t". we liked him from then on!

this is the main tent at the campsite where we spent our spare time boozing it up and meeting new people. it got pretty crazy at night. there was a screen there to watch the other world cup matches as well

we managed to get 3 tents close together which was cool, or so we thought...wally snores like no other, and there was always a funny smell coming from ben's tent

This was our first glimpse of mainland europe (Calais, France). needless to say, we were very excited at this point

This is another shot of Marienplatz through one of three surviving Town Gates.

After many months of waiting, we are finally off to germany, for what would turn out to be the best two weeks of the trip to date!!!!

The party train

Oehringen
This was in the town of Oehringen. We travelled 4 hours on 'the party train' to get here to watch the Socceroos train. The town had adopted Australia and very extremely welcoming

Allianz Stadium

After sinking some more steins at another Biergarten in Munich, we headed off on mass to the Allianz Stadium Munich for Brazil v Australia

This was the top of Marienplatz. Its like the main street of Munich for pedestrain access only.

Yummmm..

Have you ever seen pretzels this big??

This was our first stein experience in Munich. It was also the beginning of a twelve hour pub crawl through the biergartens of Munich. The beer here is something else. It is so pure, and hangover free!

Bad Durkheim group shot.

This was taken upstairs while we were waiting to get out. You couldnt help but feel pumped by the result of the game. it was an awesome day.

This was the crowd attempting to exit the stadium. There were some issues at most of the stadiums, but we were all pretty wasted by now, so we waited up top till most of it cleared. What you cant see from this photo, is that there is about 100 steps down to the road from where the crowd is, so it took some time.

Yeah. We won

Australia V Japan

This is a view of the crowd in the Aussie corner inside the stadium in Kaiserslauten.

This was taken on our way up to the stadium in Kaiserslauten. This was game one against the Japanese. It was a boiling hot day, and the Australian supporters virtually took over the town. You could here Men at Work, Hunters and Collectors and AC/DC baring all around the city. Wicked
